Live Love Spa Maui

The Live Love Spa event in Maui, Hawaii this past week was one the Salt of the Earth team will never forget! Aside from the gorgeous scenery and views, the people we met and relationships we started are priceless. This was Salt of the Earth's first time in the Hawaiian market, and it is one we can see ourselves flourishing in. This definitely won't be our last visit to the Hawaiian Islands.

Cheif Care Officer, Paul Heslop, custom blending our signature Whipped Body Creme with the Blend Bar Mix Station. The Blend Bar was a huge hit amongst the Hotels, Resorts, and Spas in Hawaii. Look for it coming soon to The Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa on Oahu, The Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort on Maui and more.

Hawaii is rich in beautiful, unique salt. Each color represents a different Hawaiian Island and has distinct healing, boosting, and therapeutic properties. It was inspiring to learn about and soak in each of the different salts. It gave Salt of the Earth some great ideas for new products and spa concepts for 2013!

Salt of the Earth Work Party

The Salt of the Earth family enjoyed a day in the sun at Pineview Lake in Eden, Utah. Fun fact - Did you know that Warm Apple Cider, aka Eden, was inspired by this beautiful, scenic town of Eden Utah? We thought it was fitting to have our work party in the heart of the place that influenced one of our most popular aromas.

We never go out in the sun without our awesome COOLA sunscreen.

Look at Paul's amazing form while playing frisbee on the beach.

Soaking up the last bit of summer was the perfect way to rejuvenate ourselves for the beginning of a busy fall season. We already have the aromas of Warm Apple Cider, Orange Pomegranate, Plum Spice, and Sweet Pumpkin brewing at the Salt of the Earth headquarters! Now... back to work!!

Live Love Spa L.A.

We love us some Live Love Spa, especially the fabulous girls who are behind it all! Pictured below are Tracy Wertz, Keila Morris, Lisa Michaelis, and Piper De Young. This go-around we traveled to the compelling Equinox in Century City.

The Salt of the Earth crew in L.A. - Araceley Aguilar, Paul Heslop, and Laura Heslop. Together they teamed up to hand-blend 6 oz Whipped Body Creme and Sugar/Salt Scrubs for all the attendees. Araceley gave a mind-blowing pedicure, speaking here from experience :) to the spa directors who could feel the effects and benefits that Salt of the Earth products have to offer.

It was a great experience to spend some time in the L.A. market and start some lasting relationships.

Thank you to Live Love Spa for all that goes into these exceptional events. To see an amazing video of the event click here.

Montage Deer Valley

Salt of the Earth's Chief Care Officer, Paul Heslop, and his wife Laura, were fortunate enough to be invited by the spa director at the Spa Montage to spend a spa day at their gorgeous facility. The entire experience had the makings for a much needed relaxing day. From driving through the swanky streets of Park City, to the scenic, winding way up to the Montage, even the car-ride was thrilling (which is a lot to say for Paul and Laura)! Seeing the grand Montage Deer Valley through the trees was like getting a glimpse into seventh heaven...

Every employee we came across, including the valet man, was so incredibly helpful and gracious towards us (remind me later to tell you just how awesome the valet man was). The Montage has truly captured a "home-away-from-home" kind of a feeling and they make you feel like you belong up in that paradise with them.

The most amazing homemade marshmallow & churro dessert, highly recommend it.

Outdoor Patio

Our short experience at the Montage is leaving a lasting impression. After a relaxing spa day, we received a tour of the Montage resort. It is a very family-oriented place. Seasonally, at the outdoor patio, guests are treated with the makings for delicious s'mores that everyone is sure to enjoy. There are many activities for the whole family including a mountain-side trail and outdoor pool. In our visit, we felt that they truly cared about family. As we were leaving and the valet man gave us our keys, he noticed the unkept backseat with two empty car-seats. He briefly asked about our kids and moments later, came back with gifts of stuffed animals for each of our children. So thoughtful and the kids loved them. We hope to visit Montage Deer Valley very soon, this time kids in tow.

SPATEC at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando

Salt of the Earth was so thrilled to appear at our first ever SPATEC. SPATEC is an amazing experience for networking and meeting with the top industry decision-makers and buyers. Having one-on-one meetings is very important to us to insure that we are able to commit our focus and attention to each spa individually. We want to find out the specific needs of our buyers so that we can serve them in the best way possible. SPATEC is a perfect resource for us and we had the best time. Not to mention the gorgeous location at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes, FL. This resort is one of our favorites and we were ecstatic to have a reason to visit again!

Enjoying some "down-time" after meetings with some industry friends. To find out more about SPATEC, click here.

Live Love Spa San Diego

Salt of the Earth was privileged to attend the Live Love Spa launch event at Spa Brezza in San Diego. Servicing over 40 pedi treatments in two days our team did an amazing job! A great big thanks to our friends Corina, Aracely, and Thuc at Spa Brezza for their generosity and talents in providing the treatments.

Our exciting product launch of our Mini Blend Bar was a hit. At Salt of the Earth we love to create experiences and want the spa to do the same for their clients. Our Mini Blend Bar can achieve this by allowing the client to customize their entire pedi treatment. The nail technician is able to blend all of the Salt of the Earth products used during the treatments. And the client is able to have a take-home 6 oz. product as a gift.
A group of vendors and attendees enjoying a dinner after a long day of spa treatments and connecting. We are proud of Paul Heslop for being the only man around and holding his own in this group of successful, strong women!

Getting to Know Salt of the Earth a Little More

We wanted to share some of our "frequently asked question & answers" for a more thorough insight into Salt of the Earth...
  • Are Salt of the Earth ingredients safe? Yes, they are safe. All ingredients used by Salt of the Earth are considered safe by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel. More information regarding this can be found here.
  • Are there minimum order requirements? No minimums!
  • What is the difference between Salt and Sugar Glow Scrubs? Salt Glow Scrub is more of a coarse grain exfoliate than Sugar. If you have just shaved your legs or have sensitive skin, Sugar is a better option as it won't sting with cuts or abrasions.
  • What is the shelf life on Salt of the Earth products? Because of the depth of scent selection and customization we offer, shelf life will depend on the fragrance and product. All of our products and scents have at least a 1 year shelf life. If you keep the products out of the heat and sun - they can last over 2 years.
  • Are the 12 oz Retail Cubes recyclable? The retail packages are made with PP and ABS 40% recycled plastics which are recyclable in most cities across the USA.
If you have any questions regarding Salt of the Earth, email us at info@saltearthspa.com and we will get you your answer asap!

The Start of 2012

January is always a time for reflection of the past and hope for the future. This past year Salt of the Earth was so blessed through hard work, determination, and good friends. We had some amazing experiences and created life-long friendships with some of the greatest in the spa industry. Being a small company in an industry built on unity, relationships, and helping hands we have been taught so much. We are understanding our own position and where we can work with spas to create success. 2011 built a foundation for what we believe will be an exceptional future.

Our good friend Stephanie Yaggy, NAILPRO Executive Editor, wrote about New Year's resolutions in the January 2012 issue and has some great insights. In her article The Power of Positive Thought, she says, "I like to look at the year ahead as though anything is possible. In our day-to-day lives, it's so easy to get caught up in the grind that we forget that we truly do have the power to make good things happen if we just put our mind to it."

Amen to that! May we all have an incredible year to come and see the positive in people, situations, and experiences. Happy 2012!

A Bit About Our Mask

White kaolin, also known as China or white clay, is basically kaolinite and is the mildest of all clays. It helps stimulate circulation to the skin while gently exfoliating and cleansing it. It does not draw oils from the skin, so it can also be used on dry skin types without negative results. It is also suitable for sensitive skin.

Kaolin Clay is high in calcium, silica, zince, and magnesium, which are beneficial for oily, blemished skin. The clay's mildly drying and disinfectant properties help heal existing blemishes and inflammations, while preventing new ones from forming. Traditionally, clays are used to reduce swelling and inflammation, and to draw impurities from the skin. The high mineral content of White Kaolin Clay rejuvenates the skin while the clay exfoliates and stimulates blood circulation to the skin. Regular use of clay will remove dead skin cells, improve circulation to the skin, remove debris from the pores and bring about a smooth healthy glow.

We love Kaolin Clay for our masks because it:
  • Has a high mineral content
  • Cleanses and exfoliates
  • Helps heal and prevent blemishes and inflammations
  • Stimulates circulation
